This is one of my all time favorite childrens books and this week we will be studying the story. The book as a teaching tool lends itself to all types of lessons. Today we focused on characters and their traits. It is perfect for retelling, rhyming, charcters, setting, visualizing, making connections, purpose, making predictions and inferring. WOW all in one book, oh and it just works out that the word THE is our sight word of the week. And the title begins with it!
For those of you who have not read any books by Julia Donaldson, I suggest your next trip to the library or book store should be for her. In the meantime here is the story The Gruffalo. (after the story I have also added the web page link and the sight word song we have been singing. enjoy!
